My internship at POM

Written by:

Stepping onto the train platform with a suitcase and multiple bags in my hand, I was about to embark on the best couple of weeks of my life.

POM is a dating app which focuses on the ‘Power of Music’, connecting users through their music taste.

Putting my outfits together and making sure to get up extremely early to figure out the tube to the correct location meant that on my first day, I ended up around 40 minutes early and sitting in the nearby Pret.

Pippa and Jordan were incredible people who I got to work alongside every day as they guided me through what goes into planning an event, running social media and so much more.

Along with POM’s CEO Vihan Patel, COO Vladimir Ignatyev, and the rest of the team, I had never felt more welcomed into a company.

I soon discovered I would be helping to put on an industry networking event in partnership with Redbull and I knew this was going to be two weeks to remember. The POM X Redbull event has got to be one of my best accomplishments ever.

Being in charge of DMing artists, influencers, and companies perfect for the industry networking event – I put together the most comprehensive excel spreadsheet I’ve ever had to do with so many people on the guest list.

The event consisted of a travelling rave through Leicester Square handing out ‘PomDoms’ alongside Redbull blasting music to then beginning the industry networking event at Redbull HQ at Covent Garden.

Working the guestlist meant I was on the door allowing guests to come in one by one to enjoy the 11 upcoming London artists we hosted at the HQ.

Along with getting content at the event and making sure all the artists and guests were enjoying themselves, I was also having the time of my life. I got to learn so much about what went into planning such an exciting event.

I had never been more stressed but Pippa came and got me and said I had to enjoy the event because not only was it their event, but it was also mine.

Throughout my time at POM, I also made content with a marketing stunt in London, a TikTok in collaboration with ‘Surreal’ cereal and most of all getting to make so many amazing memories with some truly lovely people.

My two weeks were spent blasting music in the office, particularly Beyonce’s latest album, and getting incredible food from the market every day.

I hope that in a few months’ time when I graduate from university, I get to work somewhere with a creative ambition like POM.
